Water Management Modeling with HEC-ResSim

descarga14.png

The Hydrologic Engineering Center’s Reservoir System Simulation (HEC-ResSim) is used to model the operations of one or more water reservoirs. This software has many applications, such as:

  • Simulation of reservoir operation for flood risk management.
  • Flow variations and planning of water supply.
  • Regulation plans of reservoirs.
  • Support for real-time decision making.

Also, HEC-ResSim can represent from small-scale reservoirs to complex systems comprising multiple reservoirs, rivers, diversions, etc. Complementary, the software can model single events or periods of events, which can be established through Time Steps.

The projects are created by using 3 modules (Watershed Setup, Reservoir Network and Simulation). This makes it possible to add different levels of detail and specifications.

Once the simulation is over, the results can be visualized as tables or graphs.

Thanks to its versatility and precision, HEC-ResSim is positioned as the best alternative to study reservoir operation, and also as a research tool and a support for real-time decisions.
